The scenic train journey to Grindelwald is an experience in itself. Trains run regularly from major cities like Zurich, Geneva, and Bern.- Our experience: We arrived via train from Spiez, continuing to Grindelwald Grund where our Airbnb was located. Note: Taxis are not readily available at Grund, so if you’re carrying heavy luggage, reserve a taxi in advance from Grindelwald’s main station—or be prepared for a walk!
- By Car:
Accessible via the A8 motorway, Grindelwald is a 2.5-hour drive from Zurich and 3.5 hours from Geneva. - By Bus:
Buses from major cities also connect to Grindelwald, though less frequently than trains. - By Plane:
Zurich Airport is the closest major hub. From there, take a train or rent a car to reach Grindelwald.
Once in Grindelwald, you’ll find the village is best explored on foot. For mountain excursions, use the well-connected cable cars and trains.
Why Stay in Grindelwald?
We initially considered staying in Interlaken, but as we mapped out our plans for Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald emerged as the better choice. Situated higher in the mountains, it offers unparalleled views and faster access to popular attractions.

We stayed in Airbnb located in Grindelwald Grund. We had to hike up with our suitcases but the view we got from our balcony paid it all.
