LONDON WINTER GETAWAY ITINERARY
This London trip was completely unplanned—and slightly ironic. Had I known I’d be back within the same year, I would’ve applied for a one-year visa during my visit last March. But here we were again. My third time in London, and hopefully not the last.
What made this trip special wasn’t the destination (London always delivers), but the company. I was travelling with Hubby—and it felt like rewinding time to 12 years ago, when we were dating… in London. Yes, this trip was basically a reunion with our younger selves, just with better coats, tighter schedules, and a lot less energy.
The official reason for the trip? Hubby had a business meeting.
The real reason? I nagged. Persistently. For days. Until he finally said, “Okay, you can tag along.” 😌
Flights & Arrival Drama
We flew with Qatar Airways and booked the tickets only a few days before departure—definitely not cheap. Hubby flew business (company expense), while I happily chose economy. I’d much rather put that money toward handbags in Bicester than spend it on a few extra inches of legroom.
The first leg to Doha was smooth and half-empty—I even had a whole row to myself. The Doha–London leg, however, was… character-building. Full flight, middle seat, and a not-so-lovely passenger behind me who kept kicking my seat. I genuinely considered reporting it, but with a full cabin and nowhere to move, I decided to survive it quietly and count down the hours.
Day 1 – Landing in London
We landed around 6 p.m. and were picked up by car to head to our hotel near Tower Bridge. Unfortunately, it was Black Friday—not just any Friday—and London traffic was having none of it. What should’ve been a straightforward Heathrow transfer turned into a two-hour crawl.
After a quick check-in, we changed clothes and headed straight to Oxford Street, store-hopping until shops closed at 10 p.m. Jet lag + sales = questionable life choices, but zero regrets.
Day 2 – Day Trip to Cambridge
Saturday called for a slower pace, so we took a day trip to Cambridge. During summer, years ago, we’d taken photos in one of the college backyards—one of them even made it into our wedding invitation. This trip was about retracing steps, seeing if we could find that exact spot again, only this time wrapped in winter coats instead of summer light.
Day 3 – Bicester Village
A full day dedicated to shopping. Efficient. Strategic. Dangerous.
Day 4 – London Strolls & Borough Market Dinner
A relaxed day wandering around London, soaking in the winter atmosphere, before meeting Hubby in the evening for dinner at Borough Market—always lively, always a good idea.
Day 5 – Stonehenge & Bath
A classic day trip combining ancient mystery and elegant architecture. Long day, but completely worth it.
Day 6 – Arsenal Studio, Oxford Street & Winter Wonderland
A mix of fandom, shopping (again), and festive chaos at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park—bright lights, crowds, and pure December energy.
Day 7 – Tower of London & Tower Bridge
Staying near Tower Bridge meant this day was all about exploring close to “home,” at an unhurried pace.
Day 8 – Camden, Primrose Hill & Abbey Road
From the edgy buzz of Camden Lock to the calm views at Primrose Hill, ending with the obligatory Abbey Road crossing photo. Tourist? Absolutely. Ashamed? Never.
Day 9 – St Katharine Docks & Fly Home
A gentle final morning around Tower Bridge and St Katharine Docks before heading to the airport for our evening flight home.
Closing
This London winter getaway reminded me why the city keeps pulling me back. Not just for the landmarks or the shopping, but for the memories layered into its streets. Coming back with Hubby—years after we once walked these same roads while dating—made the trip feel less like sightseeing and more like revisiting a shared chapter of our life. Different season, different pace, same city… and still very much our London.
