Driving around Kei Island
On our last day in the island we asked Pak Sofian, Bu Lucy’s husband to take us around the island.
It was raining on-off and cloudy the whole day. We were so lucky that we have gone to Bair and Ngurtafur when it was sunny the last two days.
Kei City Center
We haven’t been to Kei Center and it was pretty cute.
Matwaer Beach
From Kei city center we decided to drive to Matwaer Beach which Pak Sofyan claimed as the most beautiful white sandy beach kn Kei.
Matwaer beach is located in the south part of the island, one hour drive from Kei center.
When we arrived and see ourselves, Matwaer beach is indeed stunning.
My pictures don’t do justice because it was a cloudy day. But even without the sun I can see how beautiful Matwaer beach is. It will look absolutely stunning on a clear sunny day.
What stands out from Matwaer beach is the sand. The sand is super soft, it felt like baby powder.
Tips: Matwaer beach is located in the south, at the other end of the area where we stayed. The infrastructure isn’t as developed and there was no phone reception at the time of writing but I was sure this would change in the future.
Yeer Teran at Leman
Back to the city we went to visit Yeer Teran at Leman. We took a boat to the small island where we could climb the tower to see Kei from above
Pasir Panjang Beach
Pasir Panjang Beach, our last stop is the famous beach in Kei Island and there were many guesthouses around the area.
As we came on weekend, the beach was crowded with locals. There was even a live karaoke on the beach lol.
Pasir Panjang Beach reminds us of our Ancol Beach in Jakarta where local goes on weekend but Pasir Panjang white sand and crystal blue water would make Ancol super jealous.
Closing
This ends our Beach Holiday in Kei Kecil Island. I have been wanting to come and walk on their white sandy beach. This time through my passport mishap incident, my dream came true. Maybe I was destined to be here and spent quality time with my sister before she left the country to join her husband. Will I return again? In a heartbeat, and I will take my family with me ❤️
